Sugar Cravings - It is not uncommon to have sugar & carbohydrate cravings when you make lifestyle change behaviors. Most people with weight problems have an underlying link called hyperinsulinemia. Insulin is a fat-storing hormone produced by the pancreas. While we need insulin for health, too much of it can cause all sorts of problems. Glucagon is another hormone also produced by the pancreas. As you learn to produce more glucagon and less insulin your body will begin to burn fat. When this happens your cravings will get under control. It is vital that you eat sufficient protein for your lean body mass. If you do not do this you will continue to store fat and have cravings. Chronic Disease Pain - Chronic pain is a major challenge, but there are things you can do to improve the quality of your life. The things I am going to suggest are not quick-fix cures, but need to be applied through each and every day. There is a big link between nutrition and chronic pain. Many people over indulge in high carbohydrate foods, and often cut way back on fat. Both of these can increase chronic pain. I suggest you learn body scanning or mental biofeedback to release areas holding stress. Another helpful tool is Awareness Meditation. All of these tools change the body physiology and are known to diminish pain. Self-hypnosis is another valuable tool for pain management. All of these techniques can be learned through audio programs.
Family & Personal Medical History - This is an excellent question and one often missed. In order to make a good prevention plan one has to look at their family medical history, as well as their own personal medical history. Have a look at diseases, addictions, eating habits, lifestyle behaviors, past medications, dieting history, as well as exercise & stress management history. Sports Performance Anxiety - Working with sports anxiety must be done off of the playing field or golf course. There are skills for you to learn. They include focus, flexibility, emotional and thought management. This is accomplished through building skills of mental biofeedback, awareness meditation and then Interactive Self-hypnosis. All audio programs included in the sports collection teach these skills.
Self-Hypnois Trance States - This is an excellent question and one shared by many people who would like to utilize self-hypnosis. It is not necessary to go deeply into trance to program your mind for change. It is important, however, to know how to slow the brain waves sufficiently to the level of alpha. This is where the door of the subconscious mind is located. I suggest you learn the tools of Awareness Meditation and Interactive Self-Hypnosis. These will allow you to slow the brain in any moment at all, and then program for your goal.
Oncology Quality of Life - Your mind is like a VCR. You can either play tapes as they come from your subconscious mind, or you can take those out and place others in the slot. Your outcomes are based on the VCR tapes you are playing. You can learn how to do this with a tool called Awareness Meditation and Interactive Self-hypnosis. An added bonus to learning these tools is that you will also be reducing stress chemicals, and producing healing chemicals. All audio programs in the oncology series cover these tools.
Who can be hypnotized? - Most everyone can be hypnotized. Certain people with serious mental disorders may have difficulty. Most of us are in hypnosis all day long. We are lost in our mind states that drag us here and there. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Once you learn to utilize this tool you will be able to wake yourself up from your daily hypnotic trance state, evaluate where you are and if you want to be there, and then program for the moment, as well as the future.
Pain Management & Hypnosis - Hypnosis works by slowing the production of stress chemicals and allowing the individual to open both small and large muscle groups. This causes deep relaxation. There are other benefits as well, including lowering blood pressure, respirations, heart beat, etc. The body is able to go into homeostasis or balance. In this physiological state the body produces healing hormones helping the pain diminish. There are many ways to practice hypnosis. My students learn to practice in the moment, as well as to fractionate their day with mini-hypnotic sessions. All audio programs contain instruction for these techniques.
Kids & Diabetes - The diabetes in your family is probably causing your child to desire carbohydrate foods. Some of these foods are good foods, but must be eaten in balance so they won't trigger excess insulin. Make certain that your child is seen regularly by a physician. Learn which foods trigger insulin, and encourage your child to eat foods that don't. Then the cravings will lessen. There are several good audio programs in this series. I do suggest that you listen to some designed for adults, and then you can encourage your child in healthy ways for her.
School Stress Try to find out what is triggering the stress. See if your daughter will tell you. If not, try the teacher. There are many things to help improve concentration & help your child succeed. These include improving nutrtion, helping her to learn emotional management & thought management. This is accomplished through Awareness Meditation or emotional management for kids. When ordering tapes for children or teens always give their age, so I can choose the appropriate program.
Hair Pulling Kids - Hair pulling is usually a stress-release tool. It is a good idea to help your child stop doing this by replacing this activity with something that will release stress, but not harm his/her body. Kids can learn Awareness Meditative tools and Interactive Self-Hypnosis. This is stress reduction "in the moment" and reprogramming the mind/body for relaxation. Kids enjoy doing this and are good students.
Kids & Alcohol - Without getting involved in the discussion of whether alcoholism is hereditary, it is well known that sugar is the underlying addiction to all addictions. It is also known that hyperinsulinemia is hereditary & that it is found in many people with addictive processes. It is a good idea to practice high level nutrition in your home & help your child with education about these subjects. While he/she may not perfect at practicing high level nutrition, awareness is key. I also suggest introducing a special type of stress management, one including emotional & thought management. Kids can learn this through awareness meditation audio programs. Kids become motivated with this work because they learn how to diminish what they don't want, and enhance what they do want!
Weight Loss Goals - There are many variables in losing weight. It is best to focus on body fat percentages & lifestyle changes. When a person burns fat the body shape changes often more rapidly than the scale indicates loss. I prefer the question, "How long does it take to start burning fat?" This can be almost instantly! As you learn to change your nutritional intake, finding those triggers that cause you to store fat, you will begin burning fat very rapidly indeed.
Kids Sports Focus - This happens to adults & kids alike! You can learn how to diminish the sound of the crowd & concentrate only on your playing. These are special skills & are used by all the top athletes. Kids can do them too! You can learn these on the audio tapes I designed especially for kids and sports. Smoking Cessation - Yes, you can succeed in stopping smoking with self-hypnosis. It will be important for you, as well, to make Lifestyle Changes to have a healthy recovery from your years of smoking. These changes will include nutrition & deep relaxation for stress management. You will learn how to manage your thoughts & emotions, programming them for being a non-smoker, as well as an individual practicing high level health.
Planting Affirmations - Affirmations are best planted just below the alpha state. The best way to do this is with Awareness Meditative Tools. Once you are at the alpha state, or just below tilt your eyes up about 20 degrees. I like to utilize the affirmation with active imagery. I offer many audio programs for this type of affirmational planting.
Executive Sleep - A good night's sleep is very important for both the mind & body. Your problem is very common & is stress-related. It is important for you to learn how to release stress during the day. This is called Awareness Meditation Fractionation. It is easy to learn on audio. It will put you in charge of your thoughts, emotions & body reactions. As you learn to release stress "in the moment" you will also be able to program your mind for what you want. So, in actual fact, releasing your stress will lead you to your goals! When you go to sleep at night your mind & body will be ready for plenty of ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.
Fear of Driving - This is a very common fear, but one that can be very dangerous because the individual is more focused on the anxiety/fear than on the driving. One practices desensitizing the body & mind of this type of fear OUT OF THE CAR. This is done through a series of exercises including Mental Biofeedback, Awareness Meditation & Interactive Self-Hypnoisis. After these tools are in place, practice can continue IN THE CAR. Mental biofeedback allows the body to slow the production of stress chemicals all by itself. Awareness Meditation allows the person to manage thoughts & emotional states, as well as their relationship to body sensations. It is also the basis for self-hypnosis. Interactive Self-Hypnosis allows the individual to practice driving well and at ease in all situations IN THE MIND. These then become programs for actual driving.
School Attentiveness - This is not just a problem for kids.... Many people have difficulty keeping focus or paying attention, especially when the subject matter doesn't appear very interesting. Hypnosis is a GREAT TOOL for over-coming this problem. Not only that, the actual practice of over-coming the problem leads to accelerated learning. The first step in improving attentiveness is good sound nutrition. Making certain you are eating plenty of protein and a low amount of sugar! Next, you have to learn to quiet the mind and to train it towards a focus. In our work we use the breath, as you always have it with you. Next, you learn how to manage the VCR in the middle of your head that plays the thoughts....and your inner radio station! Once you are trained in this way, you can begin to insert your own video programs for what you want. One of those might be "seeing yourself paying excellent attention to that particular teacher and getting A's " !
Long Range Goal Planning - We all have 24 hours in a day. If we are to achieve long range goals, especially without burning out, we must learn a very special type of time management. Imagery & Interactive Self-Hypnosis help us greatly, not only to plan, but to take action steps. The subconscious mind works backwards. Once it sees the goal you want, it will assist you in designing the action steps. It will also help motivate you to persist & perservere. These are key in long range goal achievement. Mindbody training releases stress & activiates the subconscious library. Once these tools are in place, you will never have a problem with this again. Your goals will unfold right before your eyes, & sooner than later!
Writer's Block - When you learn the tools to manage your mind, you will never again suffer from writer's block. In our work we focus on optimum mindbody functioning. Some of the things I will tell you may seem new in this regard. The brain needs good oxygenation to perform at high levels. This means sound nutrition & cutting back on things that interfere with this level of functioning such as sugars, caffeine, alcohol, etc. Next, learn how to work the mind VCR. Slow down "runaway brain syndrome" & begin to program the goal very specifically. See it as finished....completed. There are many tools to enhance this. Some are related to focus & others to goal definition. All are practiced at the alpha brain wave state or below.
Executive Burnout - It is always a good idea to have a complete medical examination when feeling so overwhelmed. Sometimes there is a medical reason that needs treatment. Also, if the depression is out of control & if you are feeling suicidal, it is most imperative to get help. There are many things you can do to help yourself, & even if you are given medications it is still important to consider changing some things in your current lifestyle. Most of us pay not one bit of attention to our food & beverage intake, rather like it had nothing to do with anything. In reality, it has everything to do with everything. Food stress is one of the most prevalent stresses in our society. It is important to have a good look at your family & personal medical history, as well as lifestyle change history to get a handle on designing a program just for you. Next in line is an ongoing stress management program. Exercise is important, but just as important is learning thought & emotional management & how they relate to your body messages. Once this is inline you are ready for the best part of all........programming your mind for what you really want; taking advantage of your subconscious mind for optimum health & achievement.
Sales Imagery - I'm sure most of us can agree that the subconscious mind is very powerful. In my nursing practice I have seen patients get well, or die depending on the programs they played in their minds. Inner programs become beliefs. Some work in our behalf, and others completely against it. The mind is like a Goal-seeking VCR. Whatever you play is what you get. Many programs are "mini" on the surface, but "major" in outcome. Sales performance is like this. Just think for an instance that you cannot make the sale, and guess what? The subconscious mind can help you in many ways. One, of course, is in landing the sale. Another way is by making the sale with less efforting. This is done by slowing the brain waves in the moment, and asking good questions of the inner librarian, or subconscious mind. For instance, "what do I need to do to close this deal?" and then, listen. Take advantage of your powerful inner resource for health & optimum performance.
Relationships & Career - It is important to learn to work well in your "inner garden". This is a metaphor for your big picture. We don't only have a work garden. Whether we like it or not, we do have relationship gardens, as well as a whole host of others. What is important is how we care for these. For most people the problems begin in the Mindbody Health Garden. This is the major garden & it impacts heavily on all other gardens. As we become self-responsible in how we care for our mind & body, all other gardens will prosper. Imagery helps us to see our reality & also to work a plan. As you learn to utilize your mind & body, your outcomes will change.
Leisure Fun & Games - I think it is a great idea to play golf "if you enjoy it." However, if you are taking this on as a task in order to improve concentration at work, I wouldn't suggest it. We all need a recreation break; time to do things we enjoy or that build our self-esteem. When designing your leisure program, choose a few different types of activities. For instance, one where you have to concentrate is fine & perhaps another where concentration isn't key to the performance. Some activities to build concentration include reading, sports such as golf , tennis & skiing, needlepoint, etc. Activities needing less concentration could include gardening, biking, walking, or even meditating. Journaling is a great leisure activity that helps the self to grow in new directions. Take a trip down memory lane and have a look at some of the activities your early child enjoyed. Consider adding some of those back in your leisure plans. Remember to have both group & self leisure.
