By now there are thousands of studies that report statistically significant relationships between attitudes of the mind, mood, and other factors with the ills of the body. 60-90% of disease states are reported as being stress-related, and this does not account for the unstress related disease, which are worsened by stress chemicals. It is possible to learn how to convert your symptoms into signals for stress release, and to use psychological problems as creative resources to move towrds an image of healing. As we learn to manage our thought processes, emotional states, body senssations, and develop healthy inner pictures designed to instruct the body to heal, we move from the helpless/hopeless downward spiral, up and out and into a feeling of control and peace. The first step is to quiet the mind in a special way! Most of us live in an outer world of noise, and many also live in a noisy inner world, with the mind "radio" never stopping even for a moment. When we look to heal the mind/body we must first offer an area of quiet or solace. This is called "quiet mind." This is something we train ourselves to do. When we first begin it seems often impossible to turn down the volume, and manage any control whatever from "run-away brain syndrome." We move past the striving for quiet, into utilizing the very noise itself as a tool to bring this to ourselves. There are many tools to help you along this piece of the road. They are easy and fun to learn, and best of all they take you down the road to mind/body healing. As our stress chemicals begin to decline, our inner pharmacy will produce actual healing chemicals working in our behalf. The second step is learning to be aware of emotional states and how they are connected to thought patterns, beliefs and body sensations! Emotional states come equipped with chemical codes. These chemicals actually change the biochemistry of the mind and body. Very few emotions prepare you for healing. It becomes our task to notice these emotions and chemicals, learning to diminish the ones wheich are stressful and harmful to any disease process. We do this through specific meditative tools that give us insight, awareness and release mechanisms. As we practice, our brain waves slow, as does the production of stress chemicals. As we stay with the process we are able to instruct the mind/body to produce other chemicals, as well as to actually heal or bring homeostasis to a particular part of our body. The more we practice in being in touch with various parts of our body, the more successful we seem to be at effecting change for the better. The third step is learning the practice of visualization, imagry, and interactive self-hypnosis! As our brain waves slow down we easily reach the alpa level. This is where the door to the subconscious mind is located. We can now easily send commands of healing to various parts of our body with the aid of this powerful mechanism. We can also change programs that may be getting in our way of healing. We are free to explore, change, delete, expand and instruct the mind/body as to what we really want. We learn to program in many ways, and also access the powerful dream state for additional assistance. It is possible to do this work on your own, and to learn to develop metaphors of healing and high level wellness. These tools and techniques are easy and fun. Best of all, they help to break through the hopeless/helpless cycle that only spirals downward. © All rights protected |
